The Sorrowful Mysteries - Meditations of Bl. Fr. Ignacy Kłopotowski
The Agony in the Garden
The priest, together with Jesus, offers us to the Father. Pray for all priests. Through prayer, you will show your gratitude for the work that the priest undertakes for you. How indispensably necessary he is for the salvation of the world! One must never speak ill of a priest. It was the Lord Jesus who chose him for us.
The Scourging at the Pillar
A Catholic living according to God's law must sometimes endure such unpleasantness for his behavior. However, this should not discourage us. These sufferings that the Catholic Church goes through, which fall upon its faithful, are the royal road to heaven, where they will be transformed into eternal happiness that the world does not know and cannot give. God always takes care of us, even when we ourselves are the cause of our own misery.
The Crowning with Thorns
Sorrows and sufferings should be valued as a grace of the chosen children of God. God sends suffering upon souls whom He desires to endow with exceptional holiness, and when He sends it, He demands that we speak of it to no one, but to God alone in holy prayer, asking Him: Lord, what do You want me to do?
The Carrying of the Cross
Our duty is to serve God, who is our beginning and our end, to unite with Him through faith, hope, and love; by faithfully listening to His will, to sanctify the soul. If we do not fulfill this duty, our life is a sad illusion, a grave fault, and a great misfortune that weighs us down. Meanwhile, under the conditions as they are, rolling up our sleeves, we must work earnestly not only for our own good, but also for the common good.
The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus
Once a month, prepare yourself for death. Imagine that you will die tomorrow and do what you would do at the hour of death. A person's happiness on earth is acting as conscience requires. A breach with conscience, failing to listen to this voice of God within us, is the cause of all the evil that torments us. Everything is at stake when it comes to eternal life.
