The Sorrowful Mysteries - Meditations of Bl. M. Franciszka Siedliska
The Agony in the Garden
My soul groaned as if in purgatory. It seemed to me that everything within me had died toward the Lord God: faith, and trust, and love, and devotion to God. It seemed to me that my strength and life were slipping away from me, but in everything I resigned myself to the will of the Lord Jesus, so that His good pleasure might be fulfilled in me in all things.
The Scourging at the Pillar
How much You had to suffer for my sins in Your scourging, in being stripped of Your garments. In Your passion, You saw my sins, and it was precisely those sins that caused You particular sorrow. To make satisfaction for them, You accepted distinct sufferings: scourges, blows, insults. Oh, Lord, I desire to give myself more to You.
The Crowning with Thorns
In the afternoon, during the Rosary, by Your mercy, my sweetest Lord, You presented to my soul the image of Your crowning with thorns. You stood, my King, crowned with thorns, before the eyes of my soul. I could do nothing but throw myself at Your feet, to praise You there, to adore You, to ask for forgiveness, and to suffer with You over Your passion and over my sins, which were the cause of it, my sweetest King.
The Carrying of the Cross
The Lord moved me inwardly and gave me the desire to carry my cross after Him, bearing without complaint and without a word, for His love, all the burdens, crosses, sufferings, and inner and outer difficulties that He should be pleased to send upon me.
The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus
Before three o'clock, when I went to the chapel to praise Him there, in the hour of the Savior's most terrible passion, to ask for forgiveness, to thank Him, and to show Him gratitude and love for the benefit bestowed upon me, that He gave His life for me, shed His Most Precious Blood..., I saw myself in spirit at the foot of the cross of the Lord Jesus… O Lord, can it be that Your love has reached such a degree that You gave and sacrificed Your life for me?
