The Luminous Mysteries - Meditations of St. Bp. Józef Pelczar
The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire (Mt 3:11).
Through His humility and penance He merited for us the grace of holy baptism and the sacrament of reconciliation. I thank You for this, Lord. I pray for the conversion of long-baptized nations, so that their testimony may win many new followers of Christ. Queen of the Holy Rosary, obtain for me constant gratitude to God for having made me His beloved child.
The Wedding at Cana
My hour has not yet come? (Jn 2:4).
Christ is a God who is close to human affairs. The Most Holy Mother urged Her Divine Son to address the need of the moment. When the servants carried out the Lord Jesus' command, the miracle of changing water into wine took place. This is a foretaste of the transformation of bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, so that human life may be transformed into divine life. Queen of the Holy Rosary, obtain for me the grace of readiness to do God's will at every moment with the help of graces flowing from the Eucharist.
The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God
I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent (Lk 4:43).
The Lord Jesus as Teacher and Physician of soul and body spoke to people through words, the example of His life, and deeds. Today He continues to call from the tabernacle: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (Mt 11:28). Queen of the Holy Rosary, obtain for me the grace of listening diligently to and imitating Christ in His mission of revealing the Father who loves us.
The Transfiguration
There he was transfigured before them (Mt 17:2).
The Transfiguration of the Lord Jesus on the mountain during prayer is a model and an encouragement for continuous inner transformation and progress toward perfection. The vision of God's glory was so blissful for the three apostles that Peter exclaimed: Lord, it is good for us to be here (Mt 17:4). Awareness of union with Christ in Holy Communion and the remembrance that He wants to share His glory with us is a source of hope and courage in the most difficult moments of life. Queen of the Holy Rosary, obtain for me the unwavering conviction that suffering with Christ transforms human life toward glory.
The Institution of the Eucharist
Take and eat; this is my body… Then he took a cup… and gave it to them, saying, ”Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant” (Mt 26:26-28).
In the Upper Room, the promised miracle of miracles was accomplished: the institution of the Most Holy Sacrifice and the sacramental presence of the Lord Jesus. The Most Holy Mother was not physically present there, because it was not to Her, but to the apostles and their successors that the Lord gave the authority to offer the unbloody sacrifice. However, She stood at the foot of the cross when the bloody sacrifice was being fulfilled. Thus She participated in the spiritual priesthood, offering Her Son, and with Him Herself. Queen of the Holy Rosary, teach me active participation in the Holy Mass and remaining near the Lord in sacrifice.
