The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan

Jesus came – as He confesses at His baptism – to fulfill all righteousness. Our life is based on faith in God's righteousness. Therefore, let us not put our trust in others or in ourselves, for we will be disappointed. But by turning to the Lord, we will emerge victorious from all trials.

The Wedding at Cana

Love is pure intention and simplicity. It is doing something for the sake of another and for their good. Love accepts one's neighbor in all truth, seeing their flaws. It does not seek to indulge them, but desires their good, their purification from vices. It is generous, yet strong.

The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God

Often, preparing for an encounter with God consists for a long time in creating a desert within oneself – letting go of illusions. When we stand at the bottom of the desert of our heart, we are closest to the Lord. For we cannot draw God down by our own effort. Our humbling of ourselves before Him in truth causes Him to fill us with Himself.

The Transfiguration

We are constantly like Pharisees, thinking that through our own effort, by the strength of our own will, we will free ourselves from sin and justify ourselves before God. In reality, we do not want any grace from the Lord God; we want to show Him what we are capable of. That is why we continually experience our own weakness.

The Institution of the Eucharist

In the Eucharist we are to receive Christ as Savior, the physician of our soul. Not as God in incomprehensible majesty, forcing ourselves into lofty acts, but by standing before Him in all truth, we are to present our misery to Him, like that leper from the Gospel: Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.
