The Joyful Mysteries - Meditations of St. Padre Pio

The Annunciation

Thanks to only a single ”Yes. Let it be done to me according to your word,” Mary became the Mother of the Most High, acknowledging herself as His handmaid, yet preserving the virtue of virginity, so precious in Her eyes and God's. With the help of that ”yes” expressed by the Blessed Virgin Mary, the world was saved and humanity redeemed.

I constantly repeat my fiat, and I desire nothing else but the exact fulfillment of this fiat in precisely the way the Lord God wants it-fulfilling it generously and firmly.

The Visitation

The Supreme Good is certain. The Divine Master assures us: ”no one will take your joy from you” (Jn 16:22). This conviction enables us to face the most bitter adversities with a joyful spirit.

Journey through life joyfully, with a sincere and open heart, striving upward as much as you can. And when it is not possible to continuously maintain this holy joy, at the very least never lose courage and trust in God.

The Nativity of Jesus

Christmas has a certain childlike sweetness that captures my whole heart. Gaze upon the Son of God: how He humbled Himself in His Incarnation, in His earthly life.

O my Jesus! How beautiful was the night of Your birth, when the angels, filled with joy, proclaimed peace, singing glory to God? Jesus, kindle this fire that You brought to the earth.

My Mother, Mary! Lead me to the cave in Bethlehem and grant that I may immerse myself in the contemplation of what is great and sublime; what takes place in the silence of this great and beautiful night.

The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple

Let us strive to serve the Lord God with all our heart and with all our will. Then He will give us more than we deserve.

Prayer is the best weapon we possess; it is the key that opens God's Heart. You should speak to Jesus not only with your lips, but also with your heart; under certain circumstances, even with the heart alone.

The Finding of Jesus in the Temple

It seems to me that I am always looking for something and cannot find it, and I do not even know what it is about or what I am looking for; I suffer a little, I love, and I would like to love more-that is what I am looking for.

O Infinite Beauty, You see that the soul cannot bear this abandonment, because You have made it fall too deeply in love with You.
