The Joyful Mysteries - Meditations of Pope Benedict XVI
The Annunciation
We can venerate Mary because she is blessed forever. She is blessed because she is united with God, lives with God and in God. She prepared a dwelling place for God here on earth. With body and soul she became a dwelling place for Him, and in this way she opened the earth to heaven.
The Visitation
Mary stands before us as a sign of consolation, encouragement, and hope. She addresses us with the words: Have the courage to take a risk with God! Try! Do not be afraid of Him! Have the courage to take the risk of faith! Have the courage to take the risk of goodness! Have the courage to take the risk of a pure heart! And you will see that your life will become open and radiant.
The Nativity of Jesus
God became man for us: every year, this very message reaches the farthest corners of the world from the quiet stable of Bethlehem. Christmas is a feast of light and peace, a day of inner wonder and joy that envelops the entire universe, because ”God became man.”
The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple
Do not be afraid of Christ! He takes nothing away, and He gives everything. Whoever gives themselves to Him receives a hundredfold. Yes, open wide the doors to Christ, and you will find true life.
The Finding of Jesus in the Temple
The beginning of every human existence is not the result of blind chance, but of God's design of love. This is precisely what Jesus Christ, the true Son of God and perfect man, revealed to us. He knew where He came from and where we all come from: from the love of His Father and our Father.
