The Glorious Mysteries - Meditations of Pope Benedict XVI
The Resurrection
The Church is alive. It carries within itself the future of the world and therefore shows each of us the way toward the future. The Church is alive and we can see it: we experience the joy that the Risen One promised to His disciples. The Church is alive because Christ is alive, because He has truly risen.
The Ascension
Whoever believes is never alone. God comes to meet us. Let us also go out to meet Him, and then let us go to other people. As far as we are able, let us not allow any child of God to be alone.
The Descent of the Holy Spirit
We do not do good as slaves who are not free to act otherwise, but we do it because we personally bear responsibility for the world; because we love truth and goodness, because we love God Himself and therefore also His creatures. Behold the true freedom to which the Holy Spirit wants to lead us.
The Assumption of Mary
Even amidst countless daily difficulties, we should not lose our serenity and peace. The luminous path of the One assumed into heaven shines even brighter when grim shadows of suffering and violence seem to gather on the horizon. We are certain that from on high Mary watches over our steps with tenderness and care, reassures us in the hour of darkness and storm, and sustains us with Her maternal hand.
The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth
Holy Mary, Mother of God, show us Jesus. Lead us to Him. Teach us how to know and love Him, so that we too may become capable of true love and be sources of living water in a thirsty world.
