The Glorious Mysteries - Meditations with St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta
The Resurrection
The joy of the risen Lord is the radiance of the Father's love. The joy of Jesus is the hope of eternal happiness. It is a burning flame of love. Easter brings this joy. However, one must remember that there is no joy without sacrifice. That is why Good Friday precedes Easter. O God, who rose again so that all might believe and find eternal life. Grant me a strong will so that I may reach where I hesitate most to reach, and kindle love where I have been rejected; grant me the grace to see in the darkness the sign of faith, that I may keep it in the very midst of doubt.
The Ascension
Jesus chose us for Himself just as He once chose the Apostles. We should live in the conviction that we belong to Him, and not allow anything, even the smallest thing, to distance us from this belonging, from His love. After the ascension of Jesus, Our Lady took care of the Apostles of the early Church in a special way. Today as well, Our Lady surrounds us with Her maternal care.
The Descent of the Holy Spirit
The first Christians died for Jesus led and strengthened by the Holy Spirit. They were recognized by the fact that they loved one another. The world has never needed love as much as it does today. That is why we need the power of the Holy Spirit so much, to teach acceptance, the life and love of Jesus in our neighbor. He pours love, peace, and joy into our hearts to the extent that we have emptied ourselves of self-indulgence, vanity, anger, and ambition, to the extent that we desire to take the cross of Christ upon our shoulders. Come, Holy Spirit, and renew the face of the earth – renew our hearts, ourselves, and the whole world.
The Assumption of Mary
Let us ask the Most Holy Mother to teach us Her silence, Her kindness, Her humility. Your silence, Mary, speaks to me, teaches me how together with You and like You I can keep all things in the depth of my heart, as You did, not answering when I am accused or admonished, and always praying in the silence of the heart, as You did… Teach me, as You taught Jesus, so that my heart may be meek and humble and that I may praise our Father. The Most Blessed Virgin Mary fully realized the plan of salvation, therefore She also fully enjoys its fruits. She is our strength and our help, She is the cause of our joy; we strive to imitate Her and to bestow joy upon others.
The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth
Mary was chosen to be the Queen of heaven and earth. People around the world offer Mary, our Mother, wonderful votive offerings and cover Her altars with flowers. We do not have material gifts for Her, but we can give Her the flowers of kindness, the flowers of a smile. Let us crown Her with the fragrant flowers of love, gentleness, and humility shown to one another.
