The Glorious Mysteries - Meditations of Bl. Card. Wyszyński - Version 3
The Resurrection
The Church speaks beautifully in the Exsultet about the moment of Christ's Resurrection: O truly blessed night, worthy alone to know the time and hour when Christ rose from the underworld! Straight from the tomb, the Lord Jesus surely went ”to his most beloved Mother.” This was His first ”visit” after the Resurrection. And rightly so. After all, He had received His Body from Her, so now He wanted to present to Her His transformed and glorified Body, in which He abides at the right hand of the Father.
Our body will also be transformed. It will be a body free from all troubles, torments, sufferings, diseases, and trials. A body capable of sharing with the soul in the joys of heaven. Queen of Heaven, rejoice, for He whom you merited to bear has risen. We rejoice with You in Your happiness and in our hope of resurrection.
The Ascension
On the Mount of Olives, a small group of people most faithful to Christ gathered: the Apostles and Mary with the women. Even those disciples who were not at Calvary were there. They surrounded Christ to see Him off on His way to the Father. The Lord Jesus gave them His final instructions and blessed them. As He was taken up into heaven, the group remained on earth, gazing up. Two men in white robes stood by them, asking: “Why do you stand here looking into the sky?” (Acts 1:11).
This indicates that although we are to fix our eyes on Christ, our task is nevertheless to strengthen His Kingdom – to be witnesses of Christ. We are to disperse, go to work, and fulfill God's plans.
And a place awaits us in heaven. Even if we come very late, even after a hundred years of earthly life – no one will take our place. It is for us alone. No one else dares to sit in it. Should someone be delayed in purgatory, this place will wait, and should someone go completely astray – it will remain empty.
We thank You, Lord Jesus, that already today we are citizens of heaven, that You are waiting for us there with Your and our Mother in Your glorified Body, taken from Her. Grant that we may all come to You one day, to rejoice in God's presence in the company of the Most Beautiful Mother.
The Descent of the Holy Spirit
We are in the Upper Room. In it are the Most Holy Mother, the Apostles, and the Galilean women. Christ sends the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, of counsel and might, of knowledge, piety, and the fear of the Lord. The Holy Spirit is for everyone, for each individual. All of those gathered who receive Him will receive divine fires. They are sent so that they may also be kindled in our hearts. Christ desires only that this Fire burn within us.
Holy Spirit, Lord of Light, from the clear celestial height, Thy pure beaming radiance give…
The Assumption of Mary
After the saving work of Christ on the cross, after the Resurrection, His Mother, Mary, journeys toward the Son who is at the right hand of the Father. A direct encounter takes place between the Mother of Christ and the Father of Christ. The ”Divine Family” in heaven is now complete. There is the active Trinity: God the Father, God the Man – the Word Incarnate, there is the Holy Spirit, and Mary, chosen by the Trinity – a human being, only a human being.
We thank You, Lord Jesus Christ, for the joy of the glory of Mary Assumed into Heaven. And for the fact that we have a Mother in heaven.
The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth
The Heavenly Father completes His work by crowning Mary as Queen of heaven and earth. It is right that heaven should have its Queen. After all, in the heavenly hierarchy, after the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, is the place of Mary. Only after Her comes the world of angels. She is the Queen of angels, patriarchs, prophets, martyrs, confessors, virgins – of all the saints.
Mary's queenship flows down to earth. She is the Queen of all humanity and of individual nations. She is the Queen of Poland. She is also the Queen of our hearts.
