The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan
Jesus washed away in the Jordan the sins of those He loved while they were sinners. He took our sins upon Himself, paying for them with His merits, and coming out of the waters of the Jordan, He pulled us out of our misery, endowed us with His purity, gave us His Name and His inheritance, and made each of us His immaculate bride.
Now Jesus gazes into your soul. What are you thinking and dreaming about? Can you say that you love God above all things?
Fruit of the mystery: Love for God, unwavering fidelity in keeping the promises of holy baptism, God's commandments, and church precepts.
The Wedding at Cana
To the wedding in Cana were invited the Mother of Jesus, and also the Savior with His disciples. The maternal Heart of Mary noticed the embarrassment of the hosts who had not provided enough wine. Motivated by compassion, she turns with faith and trust to Jesus, saying: They have no wine (Jn 2:3). How much mercy, humility, and prudent care, how much faith and respect for the Son do these simple words contain. Mary said nothing more, because she knew that the Son would read in Her Heart what she was asking Him for and why. Let us learn from Mary to entrust our needs to Jesus.
Let us do this ordinarily and simply, leaving everything to His will. For this is a perfect way of prayer.
Fruit of the mystery: The ability to perceive in one's own life signs of the tender love of the Heart of Jesus and to show such love to Jesus and one's neighbors.
The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God
Whose is this image and inscription? (Mt 22:20). Behold the image of the God-Man. Let us constantly gaze upon Him and let us not be at peace until we reproduce in ourselves His poverty, patience, love of enemies, and sacrifice. For God chose us to be conformed to the image of His Son (cf. Rom 8:29).
Fruit of the mystery: Submissiveness to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit and turning one's heart to the God of Love.
The Transfiguration
The Lord Jesus led the chosen disciples first to the mountain of glory, and then to the mountain of passion. On Tabor He showed them the glory of heaven, on Calvary - the cross on which He was lifted up. There His face shone like the sun, on Calvary it was unlike a human face. There His garments were white as snow, on Calvary He was covered with a garment of blood. There it was good for the disciples, from Calvary they fled. The Lord Jesus also takes us sometimes to Mount Tabor, and other times to Calvary. When He bestows comfort and prosperity upon us, we say that it is good for us to be with Him, but what do we do when He makes us participants of the cross - do we not run away? Do we therefore truly love Jesus?
Fruit of the mystery: Zeal in working on the transformation of life through the revitalization of faith and divine love within oneself.
The Institution of the Eucharist
Take and eat, this is my body (Mt 26:26). The Sacrament of the Eucharist is the pinnacle of Christ's love, because in it He gives us Himself and is our daily bread. Through this sacrament, Christ desires to unite more and more closely with everyone who understands this desire of His and responds to it with cooperation. In Holy Communion, Christ transforms us into Himself and causes Him to live in us, and we in Him. Our thoughts, feelings, matters are then not only in Him, but rather are His thoughts, feelings, and matters.
He then creates with us as it were one entity. He cannot do anything more than that for us, although He is omnipotent; He has nothing more to give, although He is the richest; He cannot show a greater proof of love, although He is wisdom itself. Although He is love itself, He cannot love us better than with this love by which He calls us to union with Himself.
Let us not run away from our happiness, therefore. Let us unite with Him here on earth as often as possible in Holy Communion, so that we may be united with Him forever.
Fruit of the mystery: Striving for such perfect union with Christ that He alone lives in me, and I in Him.
