The Joyful Mysteries - Meditations with St. John Bosco

The Annunciation

Before we undertake any work, let us make sure whether it is God's will to do so. If the Lord God wills it, we will be fearless, we will overcome obstacles, and we will conquer thousands of difficulties that we encounter on this road.

The Visitation

Think of God as faith teaches, of man as love requires, and toward yourself be as humble as modesty demands. Speak of God with respect, of your neighbor as you would wish them to speak of you. Speak of yourself either with modesty, or not at all.

The Nativity of Jesus

Let us not envy the shepherds who went to the manger in Bethlehem and saw Him newly born. Happy shepherds, we say. And yet we have nothing to envy them, because that same happiness is also ours. The same Jesus whom the shepherds visited in His stable is right here, in the tabernacle… And there is no more pleasing thing we can do for Him than to come to visit Him often.

The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple

We call the Word of God light because it enlightens man and guides him in faith, in action, and in love. It is light, for if it is proclaimed, it spreads the brightness of God's grace in the hearts of the listeners and makes known to them the truths of faith.

The Finding of Jesus in the Temple

In every young person, even the worst one, there is some spot sensitive to good. The first and fundamental duty of an educator is precisely to discover this spot, this sensitive string of his heart, in order to then make use of it in educational work.
