The Joyful Mysteries - Meditations from the Diary of St. Faustina
The Annunciation
I recognize the greatest love and abyss of mercy in the Incarnation of the Word. Before every Holy Communion, I earnestly ask the Mother of God to help me prepare my soul for the coming of Her Son, that She might deign to kindle in me the fire of divine love with which Her pure Heart burned at the moment of the Incarnation of the Word of God.(Diary, 180, 1114)
The Visitation
Reflect on love of neighbor: is your love for your neighbors guided by My love? Do you pray for your enemies? Do you wish well to those who have in any way saddened or offended you? Know this, that whatever good you do to any soul, I accept it as if you had done it to Me Myselff.(Diary, 1768)
The Nativity of Jesus
Jesus, what is the reason that You hide Your majesty, that You left the throne of heaven and dwell with us? The Lord answered me: My daughter, love brought Me down and love keeps Me here. I came to know the mystery of the Incarnation. How great a divine mercy is contained in the mystery of the Incarnation of the Son of God.(Diary, 576, 1433)
The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple
O Mary, today a terrible sword has pierced Your holy soul; except for God, no one knows of Your suffering. Your soul does not break, but is courageous, because it is with Jesus. Sweet Mother, unite my soul with Jesus, because only then will I survive all trials and tribulations. May the sword of suffering never break me.(Diary, 915)
The Finding of Jesus in the Temple
I do not seek happiness outside my interior, where God dwells. I rejoice in God within my own interior; here I constantly abide with Him, here is my greatest intimacy with Him. The Blessed Virgin encourages me to commune with God in this way.(Diary, 454)
