The Resurrection
We wish to pray with the Holy Father, who constantly remembers us, having given proofs of this so many times. We will thank God for all the gifts He bestows upon him. We rejoice that he has such a wonderful opportunity to confess Christ before the nations of the world, to confess faith in His Resurrection. We rejoice in this resurrection, which is a foretelling of our own Resurrection. We live by this truth. In relation to it, we arrange all our daily affairs, which we place into the hands of the Most Holy Mother.
The Ascension
Christ ascended into heaven to prepare a place for us. And we too will follow Him one day. But already today, our portion is an interior communion with God, the best Father. Already today, man strives for higher things, seeking God in his heart. Already today, he feels that only when he rests in God will he achieve full joy and full peace. Every person desires peace, a certain interior respite, for which we pray so often in the liturgy of the Church.
The Descent of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit fills the whole world, so that everything contained within this earthly sphere bears the mark of His voice, wisdom, knowledge, light, unity. And what is the striving of man? Man does not strive for darkness; he does not like it. When darkness comes, he illuminates it with light. He does not like darkness in the mind and in the heart. He desires the serenity brought by the Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord.
Therefore, the promise of the Holy Spirit, whom Jesus was to send from the Father, was man's greatest hope. The disciples, together with the Mother of Christ, waited for this Spirit, who is to renew the face of the earth, just as He enveloped Mary. We thank You for this great gift of hope.
The Assumption of Mary
The Lord Jesus foretold this moment. He said: “It is necessary that I go away. I go to prepare a place for us. When I go to the Father, with whom there are many mansions, I will prepare a place for you. And then I will come and take you, so that you also may be where I am... and that your joy may be full.” It is difficult to imagine what God has prepared for those who love Him.
This promise was fulfilled in the Mother of Jesus Christ. We have indeed heard that God took prophets to heaven, but in what form-we do not know. We know, however, that Mary was taken up soul and body. We know that this also awaits every person on the day of resurrection. We rejoice that our personal identity will not be annihilated, but prepared for eternal duration in joy with God.
In the Most Holy Mother, we see the one who was the first to be united with Christ and who was the first to be taken up into heaven, into the fullness of union with the Holy Trinity.
The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth
The coronation of the Mother of God in heaven is only an external expression of the praise with which God wishes to honor His Handmaid. Yet, what depth is contained within this! After all, it is not merely some external sign, as people imagine today, simplifying a reality that cannot be reproduced.
This is surely a great, unspeakable joy enveloping the entire personality of Mary. It is a certain extraordinary brightness of full Grace, an interior vision of all the Divine mysteries. It is an unimaginable interior experience of happiness that will never end. This happiness will be the permanent portion of a person fully united with God, possessing full faith and enveloped in love. It is of such a crowning of the Mother of God that the Church surely thinks when it says that Mary is the prototype of the Church, a model for every person.
